When existing CRMs do not fit real client workflows, sometimes building your own is the only option.

At the start of the year, two client projects pushed me to stop forcing generic tools onto specific workflows. Every CRM we tried assumed a sales-pipeline shape that simply didn't match how project-based work flows: enquiry, scoping, quoting, production, installation, sign-off.

So we built a simple, modular CRM designed to be integrated into real workflows rather than sit beside them. It tracks leads and client projects the way the business actually runs, instead of asking the business to run the way the software expects.

The lesson isn't "always build your own". It's that the cost of bending your process around the wrong tool is usually higher than it looks, and for high-variation, project-based work, a focused bespoke tool often wins.
